Long Island Company Announces the Commericial Release of the Next Generation Content Management System for the Internet

FARMINGDALE, NY (July 18, 1997)—BASCOM Global Internet Services, Inc., a Long Island based Internet software development company, has developed the Access Management Engine (AME), a next generation technology for the Internet allowing content to be managed instead of being filtered or blocked. AME provides an easy-to-use and flexible solution enabling parents to protect their children from indecent content without limiting their own Internet experience. The AME technology is ideal for use by families, schools, and businesses concerned about accessing inappropriate Internet content. BASCOM's innovative AME technology has been successfully tested in several Long Island and New York City schools and is being utilized by multiple schools this upcoming academic year.

With the Communications Decency Act (CDA) having been knocked down, President Clinton is seeking a viable industry led solution; meanwhile, BASCOM's AME is the answer to questions of individual rights, censorship, differences on appropriate content, and safety of children on the Internet. BASCOM has placed the power to regulate Internet access in the hands of parents at home and teachers at school. "We are not censoring the Internet," says Peter Cirasole, President of BASCOM, "We are providing parents with the tools they need to create an Internet experience consistent with the values they established for their children." With the AME, each household can manage the Internet the way they decide is best.

BASCOM's AME is unique in requiring no software loaded on the computer other than an industry standard web browser. This relieves parents from the time and expense associated with correctly installing, upgrading, and maintaining a proprietary software package on their computer. All of the controls are held in a password protected account on the Internet, accessible anytime by the parent or teacher, severely limiting a technically able child from thwarting the system.
