Onsite training combined with company's powerful next generation filtering tool offers teachers complete package, unlocking the Internet's true instructional potential
Hauppauge, NY - June 25, 2001—BASCOM Global Internet Services, Inc. (BASCOM), pioneering developers of "e-curriculum" filtering solutions, today announces the formation of an Education Services division, providing administrators and teachers with onsite training in the effective use of the Internet in day to day learning. Comprehensive courses will provide technology administrators and teachers with a thorough working knowledge of BASCOM's Internet Communications Server (ICS), based on the company's "next generation filtering technology." In keeping with the objectives outlined in the National Educational Technology Plan (issued by the U.S. Department of Education), BASCOM's onsite courses will improve the preparation of teachers in their knowledge of how to use technology - specifically the Internet - for effective teaching and learning.
"Today, one of the chief impediments to true Internet-enriched instruction is an approach that integrates the right tools with the kind of training that allows teachers to maximize the instructional value of these tools, " said Peter Cirasole, President and CEO of BASCOM. "For over five years, BASCOM has worked with K-12 teachers and technology administrators across the country to provide an easy Internet onramp by making the ICS as intuitive and easy to use as possible. The power of any technology is largely based on the proficiency and imagination of its users. By offering onsite training through our Education Services Division, we give teachers with varying levels of Internet experience a complete instructional package, accelerating the proficiency of Internet novices and opening new possibilities to experienced users. This uniquely potent combination of technology and training will result in focused Internet-enriched instruction and vibrant, interactive classrooms consistent with the goals expressed in the National Technology Education plan."
BASCOM's Education Services Division provides structured onsite training and coursework enabling technology administrators to understand every aspect of the ICS and how to use it toward promoting Internet-enriched instruction; administrators will also be able to support teachers using the system. Teachers will be introduced to the range of features available through the ICS and will learn basic skills enabling them to use the ICS as an effective learning tool. Teachers with more Internet experience will be even better equipped to expand their current use of online resources in day-to-day instruction.
