BASCOM Releases New Global Proxy Support for Filtering
Chromebook, iPad and iOS Mobile Devices
Hauppauge, NY—June 13, 2013—BASCOM Global Internet Services, Inc., a pioneering developer of Internet content filtering solutions for PK-12, today announces new Global Proxy Support™ for mobile devices. As an educational technology company committed to staying abreast of the latest changes in technology, BASCOM developed Global Proxy Support for filtering Chromebook™ notebooks and to offer an additional option for filtering iPad® and other iOS devices. This new announcement gives schools choices when securing their mobile devices and making selections for one to one computing in schools.
Filtering Chromebook, iPad and other iOS Devices using Global Proxy Support
Not only does Global Proxy Support filter Chromebook notebooks, but it also offers another option to the Anywhere Filter browser app when filtering iPad and other iOS devices. Global proxy filtering offers the advantage of using the Safari® browser. This allows emails, webclips, links and other programs to launch correctly while also filtering apps. However, there are some trade-offs. This new method requires traffic to flow through the school’s Internet connection, resulting in increased traffic and utilization of school bandwidth.
“We built Global Proxy Support for mobile devices to address the needs of some of our mobile filtering customers,” says Robert DeRosa, BASCOM’s Chief Technology officer. “As an education technology company, we are dedicated to providing a wide range of solutions to support Internet learning.” Global Proxy Support provides another solution for filtering mobile devices and increases the range of selections for IT staff when choosing technology for one to one computing in schools.
